Luka Doncic’s MVP Odds back on the rise!

The Dallas Maverick’s star player Luka Doncic again breaks NBA record

Luka Doncic posts another triple double in 30 minutes

In just his second game, back from spraining his right ankle against the Miami Heat 2 weeks ago, Luka Doncic scores 31 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds in 30 minutes. This astounding feat, makes Doncic the only player (let alone the youngest) to ever record more than one triple double in 30 minutes or under.

If you thought Doncic would be a little rusty coming back from injury, well think again. This young man is posting stats that we have not seen before. He is changing the way the game is being played just like the way Steph Curry did with 3 pointers.

An MVP stellar game by Doncic

Playing an away game against the Golden State Warriors the Mavericks were able to win convincingly 141 to 121. Although Golden State are not the powerhouse that they used to be, they were on a four game winning streak.

1st Half – Luka Doncic vs D’angelo Russell

The first half was the Luka Doncic vs D’angelo Russell showdown.

Russell scored 30 points by half time which included hot shooting from outside the three point line.

Whilst Doncic, not to be out done, pulled out his step back three and shot several pull up long bombs to reach 25 points.

2nd Half – Doncic breaks records

In the 3rd quarter, Doncic was able to achieve his ninth triple double, but became part of a heart stopping moment when Russell dived for a loose ball colliding his head against Doncic’s hip. Clearly dazed, Russell lay lying face down on the floor for several minutes.

Despite a stretcher being made available on court, Russell was able to walk off to the change rooms for medical examination. He took no further part in the game, but was able to return later in the fourth quarter to watch from the sidelines.

In recording the 31-15-12 stat line, Doncic achieved the following:

  • He ties Jason Kidd’s record of nine triple doubles for a Maverick in a season.
  • He beats his last season record of eight triple doubles in only his 27th game of this season.
  • He became the only player to ever record more than one tripe double in 30 minutes or under.

By game’s end, Doncic’s odds of winning the NBA MVP rose to be second, behind only Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Darkhorse of NBA MVP odds

Sportsbooks must be having a difficult time this year placing NBA MVP odds. With Luka Doncic a dark horse in the race for MVP from the season outset, he is looking more and more like the real deal.

Should he win MVP for the 2019/2020 season, this would be a huge upset for many sportsbooks.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, however, quite rightly remains the clear favorite by sportsbooks. But don’t be surprised if Doncic can reel Giannis in the race for MVP. Doncic has many MVP attributes that will only develop further as the season progresses.
