Bookmakers offer enhanced multiples on various sports. From football to horse racing, darts, basketball and more.

Enhanced multiples are a natural progression after you build a bankroll from free bets and bonuses.

Matched bettors can back and lay bet to lock-in profit on certain enhanced accumulators.

Alternatively, advantage play betting relies on the positive expected value. Back an enhanced multiple without laying at the exchange.

I would only recommend this strategy once you have a solid bankroll.

Risk free enhanced multiples

You can back and lay some enhanced multiples for risk free profit.

Here’s how to lay double and trebles, plus how to sequential lay a double.

Enhanced doubles

Let’s look at a boosted double:

Chelsea and Newcastle both to win at 2/1 (3.0)

  1. Back £10 on Chelsea and Newcastle both to win at 2/1 (3.0) odds with the bookmaker.
  2. Got to Betfair > Football > Premier League > ACCAs market. Lay £12.24 on Chelsea and Newcastle both to win at 2.50 odds.

Your liability is £18.37 at Betfair. But what does this mean?

  • If the double wins, you win £20 at the bookie, minus £18.37 losing lay bet at Betfair, equals a £1.63 net profit.
  • If the double loses, your £12.24 lay stake wins, minus £0.61 Betfair commission for £1.63 net profit.

So, you’ve made £1.63 profit regardless of the match result.

You can also choose to underlay boosts for a chance to make more profit.

Enhanced trebles

Enhanced ACCAs are popular. William Hill Super Odds treble is a great example.

William Hill - Super Odds treble

The maximum stake is £5 at 13/2 (7.5) with William Hill.

William Hill Super Odds Treble is available to lay on Betfair ACCAs market. Look for a special lay market under Football>English Premier League.

Laying at Betfair - William Hill Super odds treble

Lay this treble using a standard lay or an underlay as follows:

  1. Standard lay £5.56 for £0.28 guaranteed profit, or
  2. Lay £5.27 at Betfair (assuming 5% commission) to ensure a risk free bet. This is underlaying.

Similarly, Skybet Soccer Saturday boost has a lay market on Betfair exchange.

Sequential laying

Your selections may start at different times. So, you’ll need to sequential lay your enhanced double or treble bet.

The following example is a typical horse racing boosted double.

Betfred enhanced Kempton double:

Redicean to win the 12.20 race and Secret Investor to win the 12.55 race at odds of 4/1 (5.0).

1). Back £10 on the enhanced double at 4/1 (5.0) odds with Betfred.

2). Lay £10.21 on Redicean at odds of 1.77 on Smarkets. Liability is £7.87.

3). If Redicean does not win the 12.20 Kempton race, then stop. You’ve made no profit or loss.

4). If Redicean wins, take your £10 stake and add £7.87 liability, which equals £17.87. Now add 2% Smarkets commission to calculate your lay stake for the second leg of the double. £17.87 divided by 50 = £0.36.  Then, £17.87 + £0.36 = £18.23 is your ideal lay stake.

5). After the 12.20 race finishes and before the 12.55 race starts, lay £18.23 on Secret Investor at 2.50 odds. Liability is £27.34. (the lay odds of your second leg can vary, so adjust the figures).

6). If Secret Investor wins, you’ve won £40 at Betfred and lost a total of £35.21 at the exchange. Net profit is £4.79.

7). If the double (Redicean & Secret Investor) does not win, your lay stake ensures no loss.

You underlay the first leg of the double because the second leg lay odds may drif.

This gives a margin for a possible second leg price drift.

Value betting

Sometimes you cannot matched bet an enhanced multiple. There may be no lay market available at the betting exchange.

Should I still back the enhanced multiple?

It may be worth staking as an advantage play – if the odds are mathematically in your favour.

To calculate the expected value of an enhanced ACCA:

  • Multiply the lay odds of each selection (check Betfair) and compare to the back odds.

For example, on 25 November 2017, Coral had Aston Villa, Fulham and Wolves all to win at 4/1 (5.0).

The lay odds for each team were:

  • a). Aston Villa (1.72) x Fulham (1.91) x Wolves (1.34) = 4.4 total lay odds.
  • b). Divide the back odds of 5.00 by the combined lay odds of 4.4 = 1.1363.
  • c). Then, 1.1363 x 100 = 113.63% expected value (EV).

Basically, if the combined lay odds are less than the back odds, then your multiple is +EV.

Final thoughts

Enhanced multiples can be profitable. Whether you choose to lay all at once, sequential lay, or advantage play (no lay).

It is important to check the EV of each bet. Some so-called enhancements may actually be poor value and below the exchange odds.
